A check valve for fluids which may contain solid particles comprises a flat rigid member 512 having an opening 518 and adapted to be coupled to a fluid supply conduit 516, a flexible component 522 disposed on one side of the member and having an aperture to allow passage of the conduit, and a flexible valve element 530 disposed on the opposite side of the member, certain portions of the margins of the element and of the component being secured to or integral with each other while the remaining portions are free to move apart as at 536. The element 530 may consist of two portions embracing a metal disc 532 and connected to each other by adhesive or vulcanization. A rubber gasket 560 is adhesively secured to the member 512. The valve may be used in an inverted position so that it is opened by gravity.</p> |
