SOLID POLYMER ELECTROLYTE AND FUEL CELL USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer electrolyte capable of exerting excellent ion conductivity even without humidification or at relative humidity below 50% at an operation temperature of 100-300°C; and to provide a fuel cell using the solid polymer electrolyte.

SOLUTION: This solid polymer electrolyte comprises a polymer, imidazoliums, cations and anions. The solid polymer electrolyte is characterized by that the imidazoliums comprises one or more kinds of cations selected from a 2-imidazolium derivative expressed by chemical formula 1, a pyridinium derivative expressed by chemical formula 3, a quaternary ammonium derivative and the like, and one or more kinds of anions selected from AlCl4-, Al3Cl8-and the like. In formulas 1 and 3, R1is a 1C or more alkyl group; and R5is a 1C or more alkyl group.
