FIELD: processes for melting steel in oxygen converters. ^ SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of feeding to converter in charge and(or) at blowing process magnesia iron-containing flux in quantity 0.2 -40.0 kg/t (of steel). Flux contains, mass %: magnesium oxide, 65 -69; iron oxide 2 -15 and it may be prepared by sintering finely divided raw magnesite and siderite. Flux is preferably fed onto remaining slag after metal tapping from converter. Due to early formation of MgO saturated primary slags and sustaining high content of MgO in slag during main time period of refining at less consumption of Mg containing materials for melting, converter lining strength is increased. ^ EFFECT: elimination of high content of hydrogen in exhaust converter gases, enhanced strength of converter lining. ^ 4 cl, 1 tbl, 1 ex |
