PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a photoreceptor is free of wear, damage and deterioration by ozone and by which high image quality is stably obtained over a long period of time, and to provide an image forming method and a process cartridge. SOLUTION: In the image forming method for forming a large number of images by repeating at least the steps of: charging the photoreceptor; forming an electrostatic latent image by image exposure; developing the electrostatic latent image with toner; transferring the resulting toner image onto a transfer member; and, optionally, cleaning the photoreceptor after transfer, the photoreceptor has a charge generating layer, a charge transport layer, and a crosslinked charge transport layer stacked on a support, wherein the crosslinked charge transport layer is formed by curing at least a tri- or higher functional radical-polymerizable monomer having no charge transport structure and a monofunctional radical-polymerizable compound having a charge transport structure, and the charging step is carried out with a discharge wire type charger using a plurality of discharge wires whose diameter is 30 to <80μm.
