PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of easily and inexpensively confirming the size and the position of an original, even in the case of a book original. SOLUTION: An image reading part 2 is arranged in the upper part of the image forming apparatus 1 main body, and a contact glass 3 as an original platen glass for placing the original is arranged in the upper part of the image reading part 2, that is, on the top face of the image forming apparatus 1 main body. A original cover 4 for pressing the original placed on the contact glass 3 is arranged above the contact glass 3, and the original cover 4 is rotatably supported above the top face of the image forming apparatus 1 main body through a hinge part 5. Besides, a reflection plate 11 is arranged on the inner side of the rear face of the original cover 4. Then, the user can easily confirm the display of an original indicating means 9a positioned on the inner side by using the reflection plate 11 even in the case of copying the book original.
