PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting an abnormality of a metering apparatus, which can accurately detect the abnormal state of the metering apparatus, based on a zero-point weight value, and to provide the metering apparatus for carrying out the method. SOLUTION: The method for detecting the abnormality of the metering apparatus, which detects the abnormal state of the metering apparatus, including a metering load table being loaded with an object to be metered and a metering means for measuring a weight value of the object to be metered which is set on the metering load table, is provided with a step (S111), in which two zero-point weight values, representing weight values measured when the object to be metered is not set on the metering load table, are generated with different timings; a step (S116) in which a zero point variation value representing the difference between the generated two zero-point weight values, is calculated; and a step (S117) in which deciding whether the metering apparatus is in an abnormal state, is carried out, based on the result as to whether the calculated zero-point variation value is in a prescribed range.
