PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition, excellent in readily drying property while maintaining a smooth surface when laminated, and also to provide a metal laminate prepared by using the above composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition is prepared by incorporating a bismaleimide compound of formula (1) in polyamic acid and/or a polyimide. The metal laminate is prepared by using the above resin composition. In the above formula, X represents a 2-10C aliphatic hydrocarbon group or a group having at least one aromatic ring, and these substituted groups may contain a heteroatom.
