PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inter-vehicle communication system capable of switching communication channels, according to a communication environment for each group of communication channels. SOLUTION: The system has a communication means 1 which is installed in an own vehicle, communicates group vehicles forming a group together with the own vehicle, and has a plurality of switchable communication channels; a communication environment index value calculating means 2 for calculating an index value of the communication environment varying with the movement of the own vehicle; a selecting means 3 for selecting a communication channel corresponding to the calculated communication environment index value; and a switching means 4 for switching the communication channel used for communication between the vehicle in the group, on the basis of this selection result. The means 2 has an other vehicle detecting means 21 for detecting the other vehicle in a predetermined relative positional relation with the own vehicle; a vehicle number calculating means 22 for calculating the number of vehicles using each communication channel; and an index value calculating section 23 for calculating a communication environment index value on the basis of the number of vehicles using each communication channel.
