A dust collecting system for a sheet handling roller (25), e.g. a print roller, has a suction box (21) with a suction jet fringed by bristles (24) positioned near to the roller. The system is mounted on a slider (9) inside a linear guide (11) with a spring (10) to hold the system away from the roller. A servo element (4) pushes the suction system into contact with the roller while at the same time positioning a sheet guide (19) near to the roller, e.g. to prevent the trailing edges of stiff sheets from damaging the bristles. The dust collecting chamber is connected to a suction duct.
