<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a remarkable reduction in the noise of a cooling fan in a standby state is ensured and the speedy transition of a fixing device from a standby state to an image forming state is also ensured. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a temperature control means that exerts temperature control such that a cooling means is operated when temperature information detected by an apparatus's inside temperature sensor means is a first temperature threshold or above, and the operation of the cooling means is stopped when it is a second temperature threshold or below. In the image forming apparatus, the temperature control means has a first set temperature which is set as a fixing control temperature for a fixing means, and a second set temperature which is lower than the first set temperature. The temperature control means exerts control so that when the temperature information outputted by the apparatus's inside temperature sensor means is detected to be the first temperature threshold or above in a standby condition involving formation of no images, the operation of the cooling means is started and, at the same time, the first set temperature for the fixing means is altered to the second set temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
