<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator driving system capable of securing the safety of the system for driving a car by two hoisting machines as well as balancing the driving distance of the two hoising machines. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator driving system moving up/down and driving the car by a plurality of hoisting machines 70 comprises an abnormality detecting means 200 detecting any one or combination of differences in a driving torque, a rotational speed, or a rotational distance of the plurality of hoisting machines, and determining an abnormality when the difference is not less than a prescribed value.
