摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the operation speed of an liquid crystal electrooptical element fast. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal electrooptical element has a liquid crystal layer, a couple of substrates between which the liquid crystal layer is sandwiched, and a positive alignment structure provided on the substrate to align liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal layer and one or both of the substrates are transparent; and the liquid crystal layer is formed of a mixed system consisting of a liquid crystal base body and metal superfines of several to hundreds of nanometers in diameter which are dispersed therein and light transmissivity is controlled by varying the frequency or voltage of a signal applied to the positive alignment structure of the substrate.
