PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray image diagnostic apparatus capable of appropriate automatic exposure control according to the moving state of an arm and a mounting table, and the like. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises an X-ray generator 1 for irradiating a subject 100 with X rays, an X-ray detector 2 for converting X rays penetrated the subject to a visible optical image and outputting the image, and an automatic exposure control means 8 for obtaining a plurality of lighting field data based on the visible optical image and controlling conditions for X rays for the X-ray generator 1 based on the lighting field data. The apparatus also has the movable mounting table 4 on which the subject 100 can be mounted, the arm 3 for movably supporting the X-ray generator 1 and the X-ray detector 2 so that the subject 100 can be photographed at a prescribed angle, a movement detecting means for detecting information on the movement of the arm 3 and the mounting table 4, and a control condition selecting means for selecting a condition for controlling the X-ray generator 1 by the automatic exposure control means 8 according to the information on the movement.
