PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an object to be sorted (crushed material of a recycled resin or the like)to be continuously charged in technique for sorting the object by utilizing an air stream. SOLUTION: An apparatus for recovering solid by separating foreign matter has a cylinder section 1 constituted by providing cylindrical bodies with changed cross-section areas in a vertical direction, an air suction device 2 which communicates with the cylinder section 1 at an upper end part of the cylinder section 1, an air suction port 3 through which a lower end part of the cylinder section 1 communicates with an external world, a charging section 4 which is opened at the cylinder section 1 between the upper end part and the lower end part of the cylinder section 1 and through which solid matter charged from a charging port is introduced in the cylinder section 1 and a recovering section 5 which is provided below the lower end part of the cylinder section. The charged solid matter is separated according to its shape, size and density by utilizing flow velocity distribution of the air stream produced in the cylinder section 1 by suction of the air suction device 2 and then the solid matter falling from the lower end part of the cylinder section 1 is recovered by the recovering section 5.
