The shower tap has a cylindrical tube (10) which is divided into two chambers (8, 9) by pistons (11, 12). A valve stem (13) passes through these which is attached to valve plates (14, 15) at either end. These control the flow of water through outlets in side plates (6, 7) to the shower head.
