<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can make high-quality image formation and polishing on the surface of an image carrier by a slidingly rubbing roller compatible with each other. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a latent image forming means 100 for forming an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier 1, a developing means 200 for forming a toner image by developing the electrostatic latent image by a toner stuck with a polishing agent, a transfer means 300 for transferring the toner image to a transfer material, the slidingly rubbing roller 2 for polishing the surface of the image carrier together with the toner by coming into contact with the surface of the image carrier and a roller position changing means 400 for changing the position of the slidingly rubbing roller 2 so as to part the slidingly rubbing roller 2 from the surface of the image carrier while image formation is carried out by using the image carrier 1 and to bring the slidingly rubbing roller 2 into contact with the surface of the image carrier while the image formation is not carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
