<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which can prevent transfer current leakage liable to be caused when an image is formed at high humidity or on a first face of a transfer material, and prevent gap discharge liable to be caused when an image is formed at low humidity or on a second face of the transfer material. <P>SOLUTION: When a humidity decision means 101 decides high humidity, a bias controlling means 100 controls the transfer material sucking bias applied on a sucking roller 80 by a sucking power supply 81 to be in the same polarity as the transfer bias applied on a transfer bias roller 67 by a transfer power supply 69.
