AIR BAG DEVICE FOR KNEE PROTECTION

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag device for knee protection, which accurately absorbs the kinetic energy of the knees of a moving occupant by a knee panel.

SOLUTION: This air bag device for knee protection is so formed that a knee panel 29 is disposed around an opening of a case 24 diagonally to position an upper side thereof at a rear of a vehicle. The general part of the knee panel 29 covering the rear side of the vehicle is disposed around a door part 56 of an air bag cover 45. The general part 46 is so formed that its upper side is tilted together with the knee panel 29 to be positioned at the rear side of the vehicle. A rib 47 projected toward the knee panel 29 side and allowing a front end face 47a to be disposed along the approximately vertical direction thereof is disposed on the general part 46. A support face 33 supporting the rib 47 when the rib 47 is pressed forward parallel with the front end face 47a of the rib 47 so that the knee panel 29 can be elastically deformed according to the pressing force of the rib 47 pressed forward, is disposed on the knee panel 29.
