<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer data to a hard disk from a memory card with remarkable ease. <P>SOLUTION: A data storage device 10 is used as portable external equipment for a host device. The storage device 10 has a hard disk drive 21, memory card drives 22, 23, a secondary battery 27, a copy button 12 and a main controller 30.
