<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for dealing with increasing traffic, without altering the conventionally used SNMPv1 interface by solving the problems on the basis of prior art. <P>SOLUTION: A network repeater desired to observe traffic incorporates a counter exceeding 32 bits. A value of 32 bits, resulting from shifting a value of an internal counter to the lower side agreed between a network management server and the network repeater (e.g. router), for example, is transferred, and the bits are then shifted to the upper side just for the agreement in the network management server, thereby solving the problem wherein counter lapping occurs. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
