PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of measuring the inner surface shape of a mold (VAR-mold) used for vacuum arc remelting of titanium, and automatically performing operations such as the peeling off of deposited material on the inner surface and the application of parting agent. SOLUTION: In the apparatus having an arm 2a movable in the vertical direction in the inner part of the VAR mold 1 laid in the vertical direction, in which a mold shape measuring instrument 4 is fitted to the arm and is moved in the vertical direction according to the movement of the arm and constituted to measure the inner surface shape of the mold, the inner surface shape of the mold can automatically measured highly precisely. Further, a tool having the functions of the peeling and the application of the parting agent, or a tool having the function of the peeling and the application of the parting agent and also the function of grinding, washing, etc., are fitted to the arm, thereby automatically performin these operations.
