<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a difference in a recording size and the size of a recording media to an operator, and to execute reduced size printing. <P>SOLUTION: A recording data size(recording width, recording length) from a host side is notified to a recording device side prior to printing, and the recording media size of a present recording device is confirmed at the recording device side, and the recording data size notified from the host is compared with the recording media size; and when the recording media is small, it is notifies to the host side, and reduction processing(including positioning) is executed in the host device, and reprinting is executed.
