PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner capable of performing the heating operation for a long time without making a user uncomfortable. SOLUTION: Wind direction plates 2-A, 2-B are set obliquely downward to guide the hot air to an approximately central area of a room by blowing the hot air obliquely downward, until the temperature difference between a set temperature set by a temperature setting means 11 at an initial period of the heating operation and a room temperature detected by a room temperature detecting means reaches a specific temperature, and the wind direction plate 2-B is set approximately just downward to blow out the hot air approximately just downward, when the temperature difference reaches the specific temperature, whereby the user is not directly exposed to the hot air in the heating operation for the long time, and does not feel discomfort.
