PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin recording device that can be easily carried with. SOLUTION: The recording device 100 records by discharging an ink stored in cartridges 161 and 162 from a recording head 142 while supplying a recording medium put on a medium mounting section 117 to a recording and writing section 143 and delivers the recorded recording medium to the outside. Functional sections such as at least a medium supply section and a medium discharge section 120, a recording section 140, a cartridge storage section 160 and a driving control section 170 are erectly installed side by side on a foundation 111. Consequently, since the functional sections are arranged on the foundation 111 without nearly overlapping each other, the size of the foundation 111 in the height direction with respect to the surface can be reduced.
