PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a permanent magnet motor with a brake, in which an assembling structure is improved so that manufacture and assembly are facilitated with high productivity and cost can be reduced. SOLUTION: In the permanent magnet motor with the brake, a bowl-like rotor yoke 4 of brake drum made of a casting steel, pivotally secured to a main shaft 1, an electromagnetic brake unit 6 is disposed opposite to the inside of this rotor yoke, wedge shape groove 4a for holding a magnet showing a dovetail of cross-sectional shape is formed axially at a fixed pitch interval on the outer peripheral surface of the rotor yoke, a permanent magnet of trapezoidal shape is engaged from a side in the groove to receive a rotational centrifugal force by the rotor yoke, and further fixed to a predetermined position with an adhesive.
