PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a control system for a safety critical process so that an efficient communication is achieved between a safety control unit and a bus master. SOLUTION: The control system (1) to control the safety critical processes (40, 42) via a field bus (4) includes the bus master (2) to control the communication via the field bus and at least one of signal units (6, 32) linked to at least one of the safety critical processes. The bus master and the signal unit are connected mutually via the field bus (4), and further include a first control unit (8) to control the safety critical processes. The signal unit and the first control unit have safety-related devices (46, 48). The first control unit is independent of the field bus and is connected to the bus master.
