PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for estimating transmission line characteristics in an OFDM communication system in which noise components can be remarkably eliminated. SOLUTION: The apparatus for estimating the transmission line characteristics in the OFDM communication system comprises: a DCT circuit 7 that receives a preamble signal; a noise elimination circuit 8 that receives a signal from the DCT circuit 7; and an IDCT circuit 9 that receives a signal from the noise elimination circuit 8 and transmits the signal to a frequency base equivalent circuit 10.
