PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone that can be used by a user more easily as compared with before without any labor for searching an address book. SOLUTION: The portable telephone for searching the address book based on user's operation comprises a storage means for storing the address book for indicating multiple communication destination information while being associated with each name; and a reception means for receiving a specification on which character set in a plurality of character sets the first and second character in a name to be searched belong to from a user, thus reading a name corresponding to a name that matches with the specification of the character set accepted by the reception means in a plurality of names in the address book from the address book along with the communication destination information.
