PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that it is difficult to control generation of static electricity and dust due to conventional rubbing treatment and quantitative orientation treatment, by contriving a method for forming an alignment film on a substrate. SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display for sealing a liquid crystal in a space formed, by holding an interval between substrates 11 by forming at least a liquid crystal drive electrode and the orientation film 21 orientating a liquid crystal in a specific direction on a pair of the opposite substrates 11, comprises a process for forming the alignment film 21 on the substrate 11, a process for bonding the alignment film 21, giving orientation on the substrate 11 in the specific direction, a process for adhering the substrate 11 and the alignment film 21, and a process for cutting the bonded alignment film 21 into a prescribed shape.
