PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector and a projected video distortion correcting method by which the distortion correction of a projected video based on the length of the leg part of the projector is performed with high accuracy. SOLUTION: A resistor 12 is provided on the leg part 11. One end 12a of the resistor 12 is disposed on one end 11a side of the leg part 11, and the other end 12b of the resistor 12 is disposed on the other end 11b side of the leg part 11. Power source voltage on a high potential side outputted from a power source 14a is supplied to the one end 12a of the resistor 12. A voltage detection part 13 is provided at a specified position on the housing 1b of the projector 1 so as to come into contact with the resistor 12, detects voltage at its contact position with the resistor, and outputs the detected voltage to a control part 15a. A projected video correction part 15 corrects the distortion of the projected video in accordance with the length (h) of the leg part 11 projecting from a bottom part 1a on the basis of output from the detection part 13.
