PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which keeps a distance constant between a recording head and a recording object and ensures a high printing quality. SOLUTION: The recording device 10 is provided with: a recording head 200 to make recording while reciprocating against the recording object; a recording head guide shaft 260 to guide reciprocating movement of the recording head 200, while keeping constant the distance of the recording head 200 to the recording object; a main frame upper part 16 to support the recording head guide shaft 260; a main frame 11 to hold the main frame upper part 16 so that the part can be opened and closed; a platen 500 which is fixed at a position opposite to the recording head 200 in the main frame 11 in a condition that the main frame upper part 16 is closed in the main frame 11, and holds the recording object between the recording head 200 and the platen itself; and a positioning member 270 to determine a relative position between the recording head guide shaft 260 and the platen 500.
