PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for laying work, by which building members can be laid under the condition that joints between partial mosaics can be made not to be conspicuous when a desired mosaic is produced by assembling the partial mosaics produced individually by employing indeterminately shaped tiles. SOLUTION: In the tool 1 for laying work used at the laying of a plurality of the building members, on at least one side of each of which is colored, based on laying plans respectively corresponding to a plurality of divisions obtained by dividing an original picture, the tool is made of a frame body 3 having an inside contour 3b regulating the laying domain 3a corresponding to the laying plan. The frame body 3 is equipped with a separating means for preventing line contact between the building member laying in the laying domain 3a and the inside contour 3b from developing at least along some part of the inside contour 3b.
