PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reclining device that can be provided with a plurality of locking gear, can assure lockable operation angle, and can ensure the strength of the added locking gears by securely meshing all the locking gear with a gear plate. SOLUTION: The locking gears that have external teeth meshed with internal teeth of the gear plate are divided into groups of three or less gears. A cam is provided at each of the locking gear groups for controlling the gears and cams of the same number as the locking gear groups are superposed and disposed in the axial direction of the center shaft.
