<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a three dimensionally reinforced SiC-C/C composite-made high speed rotor which can cope with the distortion in the circumferential direction and the generated stress in high speed rotation and allows the breaking rotation speed to be updated, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: As the main manufacturing process, there are 3 processes, that is (1) the knitting of a high speed rotor preform knitted with carbon fiber which is to be a skeleton is carried out (plenty of the carbon fiber is wound in the circumferential direction), (2) the preform body is impregnated with a carbon precursor and graphitized and (3) an Si precursor gas is injected into the graphitized high speed rotor and after that the graphitized high speed rotor is impregnated with molten Si and is treated at a high temperature to form a SiC converted layer inside and on the rotor by the reaction of carbon with Si. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
