PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate manufacture of shoes, especially orthopedic shoes, and enable manufacture of shoes at low cost.

SOLUTION: An insert (6) made of an elastic fiber material is provided at an opening and/or the lower edge adjacent to the sole area of an upper (1). A last (8) is covered with the upper (1) and the elastic material, also covered with the elastic insert (6), and affixed with bonded non-elastic material.
