PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decode and reproduce voices of all displayed programs with a predetermined or less throughput by means of a microprocessor when a plurality of screens are displayed. SOLUTION: A receiver can receive a plurality of television broadcast programs and display video images of the plurality of programs at a time on the same screen. The number of the broadcast programs to be displayed on the same screen and display screen sizes of the respective programs are specified. The number of channels of voice signals to be decoded for each program is determined based on the specified number of the programs and the sizes, and the voice signals are decoded depending on the determined channels.
