<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make highly efficient recycling possible by recovering component materials in a high purity condition from the waste materials of used optical cables. <P>SOLUTION: The optical cable 1 is composed of an optical cable core 13, a sheath 15 covering the circumference of this optical cable core 13, and a rip cord 25 installed longitudinally inside the sheath 15. The rip cord 25 is a fibrous body 27 with a resin 29 coated on the outer circumference, suppressing fluffing of the fiber. Consequently, it prevents fusion/deposit of the fiber of the fibrous body 27 onto the inner surface of the sheath 15 of the optical cable 1, facilitating separation between the rip cord 25 and the sheath 15, and making possible the recovery of the sheath materials with high purity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
