<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device that images a subject continuously in a state within a normal recognition operation range or desired by a user, and a personal authentication device that executes authentication by using the imaging device. <P>SOLUTION: The imaging device comprises a detection part 104 for outputting feature information detecting feature portions from a subject image imaging a subject, a threshold storage part 106 for storing performance limit thresholds as criteria of the subject image, and a determination part 105 for computing imaging conditions of the subject from the feature information and subject image, and if the imaging conditions exceed the performance limit thresholds, outputting correction information for correcting the imaging conditions. The imaging state of the subject is determined, and if it is inappropriate, correcting directions are given for imaging in an appropriate state, which continuously enables imaging in a state desired by the user and authentication in an optimum authentication subject state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
