<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently grind a Ni-low-P-layer formed on a substrate in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A surface of the substrate is ground by supplying successively slurry 61 including abrasive materials in which pH is adjusted to acidity of 4 or less and slurry 63 including abrasive materials in which pH is adjusted to alkalinity of 8 or more between the substrate and the abrasive members in a state in which the substrate 59 is pressed by the abrasive members 53, 55 while relatively moving the substrate 59 for vertical magnetic recording medium in which a soft magnetic substrate layer consisting of Ni-P group alloy including P of 0.5 wt% or more 6 wt% or less on a nonmagnetic substrate and the abrasive members 53, 55. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
