PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader for efficiently reading a plurality of images. SOLUTION: The image reader 10 comprises image reading means 24, 26 that are arranged on the conveyance route of a photograph film F. The image reading means 24, 26 include light irradiators 28, 30 for irradiating the photograph film F with light, unifocal lenses 32, 34 for forming the image of light transmitted through the photograph lens F, line CCD sensors 36, 38 for detecting a projected image for converting to an analog image signal, and A/D converters 40, 42 for converting the analog image signal to a digital image signal. The image reading means 24, 26 convert a plurality of images formed on the conveyed photograph film F to digital image signals in parallel, and perform pre-scanning and main scanning simultaneously.
