PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of carrying out the correction of trapezoidal distortion on the basis of a limit value at which the trapezoidal distortion can be minimized when an output of an angle sensor exceeds the limit value of the correction of the trapezoidal distortion. SOLUTION: When a tilt angle sensed by the angle sensor 16 differs from a tilt angle within a prescribed range at which an image processing section 12 can execute distortion correction, a control section 17a supplies a tilt angle closest to the tilt angle sensed by the angle sensor among tilt angles within the prescribed range to the image processing section 12. The image processing section 12 applies distortion correction corresponding to the tilt angle supplied from the control section 17a to a video image denoted by the video signal received by an image signal input section 11. The control section 17a allows the display section 13 to display the video image subjected to distortion correction and the video image displayed on the display section 13 is projected on a screen 2 via a projection lens 15 by the light projected from a projection section 14.
