PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a vehicle surrounding monitoring device suppressing alarm generation for existence of an object having no trouble in lane change among the objects in a certain prescribed area. SOLUTION: The vehicle surrounding monitoring device is equipped with a range sensor 1 detecting the distance between the own vehicle 10 and the object existing on the periphery of the own vehicle, an alarm determination means 2 determining so as to raise the alarm when the distance between the own vehicle and the object is smaller than the set distance, and an alarming means 5 raising the alarm according to the determination result of the alarm determination means 2. The range sensors 1af, 1ab are mounted to the own vehicle so that a detection area is in a front and rear sides of the both sides of the own vehicle, and the distance between the own vehicle and the front object and the distance between the own vehicle and the rear object which are detected with the range sensors, are compared. When the distances between the own vehicle and the object are same, or within a certain threshold, in the front and the rear, the alarm determination means 2 determines the object to be out of the alarm object, and suppresses the alarm from the alarm means 5.
