<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably detect an anomaly in an SRAM, in a portable terminal device mounted with an SRAM and a memory control method for controlling the SRAM. <P>SOLUTION: The memory control method is for the portable terminal device, which comprises a radio part 1 and a control part 2. The control part 1 comprises a processor 12, a flash ROM 17 and the SRAM 14 with a backup battery 15, and upon power application, reads out check words stored in the SRAM 14 to check normality. The SRAM 14 is configured to set the check words to such bits as keeping not larger than a permissible value of a probability of undetectable destruction of the SRAM 14 to a destruction rate of the overall SRAM 14.
