摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent display quality from lowering by suppressing light leakage around a spacer without modifying a manufacturing process or a spacer particle. <P>SOLUTION: A reflection layer is formed on the lower side substrate and a transmissive part with an opening width less than three times of a diameter of the spacer, that is, less than a diameter of a light leakage region is formed in the reflection layer. Next, a black light shielding layer BM is formed on the reflection layer and subsequently a coloring layer is formed on the transmissive part and on the reflection layer of the lower substrate. Next, a protective layer composed of an acrylic resin etc. is formed on the black light shielding layer BM and on the coloring layer. Next, a transparent electrode etc. is formed on the protective layer. Thereby, a color filter substrate is manufactured. Next, the spacers are sprayed on the color filter substrate. Next, the upper side substrate to be opposite to the color filter substrate is stuck thereto via a sealant. Thus, a liquid crystal display device is manufactured. In the liquid crystal display device, as a portion of the light leakage region of each spacer is light shielded with the reflection layer in a transmissive display mode, a bright spot caused by the light leakage of the spacer is displayed through the transmissive part in small size.
