PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarbonate resin generating less birefringence when extrusion molding, injection molding or stretching processing is carried out. SOLUTION: This polycarbonate copolymer comprises a structural unit of 30-70 mol% represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>and R<SB>2</SB>are each independently a hydrogen atom, a 1-10C alkyl group, a 6-10C cycloalkyl group or a 6-10C aryl group, X may be a branched 2-6C alkylene group, a 6-10C cycloalkylene group or a 6-10C arylene group, and n and m are each independently an integer of 1-5) and a structural unit of 70-30 mol% represented by general formula (2) (wherein R<SB>3</SB>is a 1-10C alkyl group, p is an integer of 0-4, and a plurality of R<SB>3</SB>may be linked to any carbon atoms of a tetracyclodecane ring).
