PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in an emergency communication device of a conventional elevator wherein inspection of the communication state requires two workers. SOLUTION: In the emergency communication device of the present elevator, an internal emergency communication device 3 having a microphone 7 and a speaker 6 is disposed inside a car room operation panel 2. The internal emergency communication device is connected to an external emergency communication device 4 disposed outside the car room, and they can be communicated with each other. A proximity of the internal emergency communication device 3 is provided with a voice sensor 9 for sensing voice issued from the speaker 6 and an announcing device 10 for making an announce for recognition of the communication state when the voice sensor senses a voice.
