This gastric ring ( 1 ) comprises: a band ( 3 ) defining a central portion ( 3 a) which is able to surround the wall of the stomach, and two lateral portions ( 3 b) which can be connected to one another to hold the band ( 3 ) around the stomach ( 2 ), and means ( 4 ) for connecting said lateral portions ( 3 b) to one another and for maintaining these lateral portions ( 3 b) in the connected position. According to the invention, the band ( 3 ) consists of an assembly of filaments made of a bioabsorbable material.
