The transporting and separating device has a conveyor belt (5), a first deflection roller (7) rotating with the movement of the conveyor belt, and a chute (13) adjacent to the conveyor belt. At least one second deflection roller (9) rotates with the movement of the conveyor belt and with the first deflection roller, whereby the diameter (d2) of the second deflection roller is smaller than the diameter (d1) of the first deflection roller. Between the conveyor belt and the chute there is a gap (S) into which drop pieces of waste material (T) and which is adjustable in its width.
