<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct the toner detecting sensitivity of a toner residual amount sensor. <P>SOLUTION: The toner residual amount sensor 53 is corrected in a period t2 (Figure (c)) that an optical path between the light emitting diode and the phototransistor of the sensor 53 temporarily communicates in the space S2 of a cleaning member 43 in the midst of setting the sensor 53 in a new toner cartridge. Therefore, the toner detecting sensitivity of the sensor 53 is corrected for each of toner cartridges 22a to 22d in the midst of setting the sensor 53. Then, the toner detecting sensitivity of the sensors 53 of respective developing devices 21a to 21d is always corrected and matched, and the residual amount of toner in each of the toner cartridges 22a to 22d is accurately detected by each sensor 53. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
