PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absolute steering position detector capable of eliminating a non-determined state of the absolute steering position. SOLUTION: In an electric power steering device, one rotation of a steering shaft detected by a resolver of a torque sensor is calculated as the mechanical angleθTm in a range of 0-360°by determining the absolute steering angle (S101), the actual motor electrical angleθMe of a motor detected by a motor resolver is calculated (S103), and the absolute steering angleθAm of a steering wheel before determination is obtained based on the mechanical angleθTm and the actual motor electrical angleθMe (S105). It is determined based on a predetermined formula whether or not the absolute steering angleθAm before determination can be identified (S107), and if it is determined that the absolute steering angleθAm before determination is not the absolute steering angleθAm to be determined (No in S109), guide information to promote the steering by the steering wheel to a driver of a vehicle is output to a back guide device by an ECU (S115).
